Welcome

A Message from the ODUSD (I&E) Conference Liaison
JSEM 2007 is a Comprehensive Summit on the Evolving World of Environment, Energy, & Geospatial Information within DoD. Once again, JSEM will highlight the many new and innovative ways the Department of Defense, other Federal agencies, states, the defense industry, and our partners are meeting our mission needs while protecting the environment. JSEM 2007 gives us the opportunity to share ways to integrate environment, energy, and geospatial information management into Defense operations. JSEM 2007 presents an excellent opportunity to provide the tools, knowledge, and experience that will help sustain our workforce in a time of change.

We intend for JSEM 2007 to address a wide range of perspectives, including policy, implementation, Best Management Practices, data management, and technology.

The JSEM 2007 Conference and Exposition is evolving, just as Defense business practices are evolving. This year we are merging Energy and Geospatial Information Management into the Conference.

This Conference has become the most significant event for environmental policy makers, practitioners and professionals.

A Message from the NDIA Environment & Energy Division Chairman
Celebrating over three decades of NDIA environmental advocacy, JSEM 2007 promises to reach new heights in featuring distinguished government and industry speakers and panelists addressing critical Environmental, Energy and Geospatial issues impacting national security and readiness. This NDIA event serves as the Industry’s voice to promote dialogue and cooperation with the Office of the Secretary of Defense and various other Departments and Agencies within DoD, and other Government Agencies. The objective of JSEM 2007 is to present an opportunity for Government and Industry to discuss the increasingly important issue of sustaining defense readiness while preserving our cherished environment.

Recognizing that energy is the facilitator of the global economy and drives Americas’ economic and national security, this year JSEM 2007 will feature energy-related topics woven into the plenary sessions, as well as a separate Energy Track populated with invited speakers from government, industry and academia addressing America’s addiction to fossil fuels and discussing emerging technologies that may lead to alternative fuel sources and secure our access to current and future energy needs. Similarly, our growing dependence on Geospatial capabilities in the performance of both environmental and energy-related programs has dictated a special emphasis on that discipline with topics woven into both the plenary and technical sessions.
